What We Do

EGYHOP has been providing free necessities and emergency supplies to Olympia’s low-income and street populations since 1999.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide emergency supplies, services, and resources to the houseless and low-income populations of Olympia.

Our outreach volunteer workers provide emergency intervention services on the streets of Olympia five nights a week, during hours when the street population cannot access traditional services. We provide needed and requested supplies, which can include blankets, socks, sleeping bags, camping gear, warm clothing, rain gear, food, hygiene supplies, and first aid supplies such as bandages, OTC medications, vitamins, HIV/AIDS prevention supplies, and Hepatitis C prevention supplies. In addition to providing supplies, we relay information about emergency resources such as shelters, treatment centers, health care facilities, advocacy centers, and other critical care resources.

Community

As part of our outreach work, we aim to educate and empower the members of our community. We do this by directly providing information on survival skills and harm reduction, along with familiar, friendly faces to talk with. We also do this by advocating for houseless and low-income populations by informing the general public about our organization, its mission, and the needs it meets in our community. In so doing, we aim to strengthen our community and eliminate the prejudice and discrimination faced by some of its most vulnerable members.

Grassroots Structure Run by Volunteers

EGYHOP is a grassroots organization and is run entirely by volunteer labor, donations, the support of the community, and grants. We rely on our volunteers from our community as well as donations from local individuals and businesses. We have no employees and very little overhead costs to ensure all donated funds go directly to people on the streets.

We believe that the power of a community in action can make a difference.
